Tryouts for Phoenix Girls Middle School Soccer will be held February 24, 26, and 27, 2015. Tryouts are open to all girls, grade 6-8. All interested girls should bring an updated physical to the DCIS main office, or to Coach Gerardo Muñoz in room 123. Girls will not be permitted to try out with a physical.
Also, as the weather is quite unpredictable at that time of year, make sure all girls bring warm clothing in case of cold, both flat shoes and cleats for indoor and outdoor activities, plenty of water, and a ball. Girls should dress appropriately for physical movement.
If you have other questions, please contact Gerardo Munoz at email@example.com, or 720-423-9023.
Conferences will be hosted on February 19th from 4-7 pm. The format this year is designed to provide two options for families to talk to teachers and review student progress:
(1) 4-5 pm = Walk-ins – Families are invited to stop by teachers’ classrooms for informal conversations and general questions. If a teacher is engaged in a conversation, please feel free to take a seat in the hall for the next available walk-in. No prior scheduling is required.
(2) 5-7 pm = Scheduled appointments – Families requiring a more lengthy conversation are encouraged to schedule an appointment for a designated time slot. Times slots are estimated to be 20-minutes each. Please contact the advisement teacher to schedule an appointment.
Student Council is requesting volunteer chaperones for the Valentine’s Day Dance on Friday February 13, 2015. The dance will be held from 7pm-10pm. They need at least 3 chaperones each hour– so roughly 9 parent volunteers with the supervision of Theresa Mccorquodale, Michelle Wright, and Kimberly Rodriquez.
Student Council is also asking for donations of refreshments such as water, snacks, pizza, etc. If you can donate either your time or snacks, please contact Kimberly Rodriquez (firstname.lastname@example.org). It would be a big help in the process of this fundraiser for prom!
The DCIS Talent show will be held this Friday, January 30th at 5:30p in the DCIS Auditorium. Cost will be $3 per student and $5 per adult. All proceeds from the gate and from certain vendors will go the Peruvian Hearts, a nonprofit organization started by a Colorado kid 10 years ago to help educate young women in Peru.
Come to DCIS on Thursday, January 29th from 6-7 PM: the PTSA would like to try to revamp this vital DCIS fundraiser into an event that continues to be fun and social but is also sustainable and meets the evolving demands of our school community. If you have an interest in party planning, knowledge of how to obtain sponsorship or funding for DCIS, a flair for decorating, ideas about entertainment or food, or just want to offer yourself as an extra body for support and labor, the PTSA would love to see you there! Every bit of help is greatly appreciated and goes right back to DCIS in the form of a stronger community and more resources for our students and teachers.
Please leave these in the DCIS Foundation mailbox in the main office. Interviews will be held January 27 and 29 after school in the Travel Center. Students will be notified. If students did NOT attend one of the mandatory meetings to get an application, they will need to wait until next fall to apply.
